The hub is located in the former Esselunga supermarket in Vimercate where tents have been set up. It is clear from newspaper articles that the opening of the facility is an exclusive choice of the Prefecture, which does not concern the municipality, because of the emergency situation. This facility will be for those extra refugees who will not find immediate placement in the CAS.
Citizens present at the meeting raised a number of concerns both from the point of view of safety and quality of life in the hub area. The mayor reiterated that the issue of security and coordination of law enforcement agencies deputed to control the facility is also in the hands of the Prefecture.
Some of the citizens present did not rule out the possibility of starting a collection of signatures to ask that the hub not be made or be placed in a more peripheral area away from homes.
